![]() ![]() Schmit continued to be part of the Eagles lineup along with Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and Joe Walsh until Frey's death in 2016 and is in the current Eagles touring lineup featuring Vince Gill.Īfter the Eagles broke up in 1980, Schmit embarked on a solo career, singing vocals and playing bass for hire during studio sessions. In 2007, the Eagles released a new album, Long Road Out of Eden. The band later broke up in 1980 and reunited 14 years later, with Schmit singing the lead vocals on " Love Will Keep Us Alive" on the reunion album Hell Freezes Over. On their 1979 album, The Long Run, Schmit co-wrote and sang lead vocals on the song " I Can't Tell You Why". Although the Eagles are thought of as a quintessential California band, Schmit is the only member of the group who is actually a native of California. In 1977, Schmit joined the Eagles after the Hotel California tour, replacing Randy Meisner on bass/vocals, as he had done in Poco, after Meisner quit. In 1974, Schmit played bass alongside Glenn Frey and Don Henley on the song " You Can Close Your Eyes" featured on Linda Ronstadt's album Heart Like a Wheel. Souther and an uncredited Freddie Mercury. Schmit also sang backing vocals on " Never Let Her Slip Away", a top 5 UK hit for Andrew Gold in 1978, along with Brock Walsh, J.D. Schmit sang backing vocals on the Steely Dan albums Pretzel Logic, The Royal Scam and Aja. Apart from Poco, Schmit also contributed backup vocals to Firefall's 1977 hit, " Just Remember I Love You." He wrote and was the lead singer on the song "Keep on Tryin'," Poco's biggest hit single to that point, peaking at No. He appeared on nine of Poco's studio albums and two live albums between 19, composing numerous songs. When Meisner quit the band in 1969, Schmit replaced him on bass and vocals. In 1968, Schmit auditioned for Poco but was turned down in favor of founding member Randy Meisner. The group recorded the album Feelin' Glad in 1968. (The track also charted on isolated stations in Virginia and Indiana.) A few more local-only hits followed, before the group changed its name once again to Glad. ![]() As the New Breed, they had a major local hit in Sacramento: the Animals-inspired "Green Eyed Woman," which was released in 1965 and hit No. That group evolved into a surf band called the Contenders, then changed its name to the New Breed (sometimes known simply as "the Breed"). He was raised in Sacramento, and began playing in the folk music group Tim, Tom & Ron at the age of 15. In 1998, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Eagles. Schmit has also worked for decades as a session musician and solo artist. He has performed as the bassist and vocalist for Poco and the Eagles, having replaced bassist and vocalist Randy Meisner in both cases. I use Pro Tools, Ableton, Sonar, Waves and other plugin processors, Spectrasonics and NI soft instruments, etc. In many ways I'm quite old school I listen almost exclusively to vinyl recordings, but I also love modern music technology and the way it has democratised the process of recording your own music. But it will work best on an iPad I think. I think Google is bringing out a new Nexus tablet soon, and the Samsung tablets are pretty good. While you can use it on any Android device (i.e., Kindle), you will need to spend some money to get good performance, especially audio quality. I think the best choice for device for this software is either a Mac or an iPad. (This is also useful for editing the data if needed.) For practicing or composing though, it's fine. If I want to use iRealPro output in a recording, then I export the MIDI data and use my high quality Native Instruments samples. And the direct sound from iRealPro itself is not all that good they use workable but pretty vanilla samples. Sound quality on any mobile device is going to be fairly low - at least from a hi-fi standpoint. I've used it on my iPhone but it's way too fussy to use on that small screen. I use it on my Google Nexus tablet and my Mac. There are small differences between the Mac version and the mobile platform versions. For more, check out the iReal B app page on the app store.IRealPro works on Android and iOS, as well as OSX. You can also email, print or post to the forum any chart from within the app (I’ve use it to email chord charts to people and to print from my iPad – very handy).įor any jazz musician or student, this is one of the few apps that I can genuinely state is a must buy. I also bought the Latin style pack and it’s wonderful. Some of the style packs will cost a few bucks extra for the play-along, but it comes with the Jazz pack pre-installed. You can organize charts by title, composer or style. It is so fast and easy that I could simply hammer my bass line with my left hand while transposing the tune with my right hand all within the span of a bar or two (once I figured out what key he was in, that is). I’ve actually transposed the tune on a gig WHILE playing the tune once I realized a few beats in that the guitarist started in a different key. This is immensely helpful when playing with singers or when someone just calls a tune in a different key. The second coolest feature (but possibly most useful on the bandstand) is the ability to transpose ANY chart to ANY key very quickly with the press of a button. In short, this feature ALONE makes it more than worth the price of admission. For example, if you want to practice a tune, simply pull up the chart, hit the note icon and you are presented with a pop-up which allows you to choose the style, tempo (also with tap tempo), number of times you want the song to repeat, number of bars to count in, a button to export the playalong file as a WAV or AAC (VERY cool) and a mixer to turn up, down or off the piano, guitar, bass, drums and reverb level. You can set your tempo, style and use sliders to change the volume of accompanying instruments. While it is easy enough to make a detailed chart on your iPad, the iPhone screen real-estate makes it a bit challenging so I would suggest doing it on the web or desktop editor.Ī recent addition to the app is a “Band-in-a-box” style play-along feature that is just plain amazing. The website also provides you with an online chart editor (to make your own through the site) or a downloadable (free) application for your Mac. There is a built in editor so you can make your own charts from within the app. Problem solved!Įssentially, it simply displays the chord chart to any tune pre-installed or any tune you wish to add. In fact there is a sticky post in the jazz section of the forum which will automatically load 1,200 standards to the app when clicked from within the app. One of the beautiful things about this app is the app forum (which is accessible within the app) in which thousands of users had already uploaded charts they had made themselves as well as backups of their entire library so it is actually quite easy to just find the old Real Book charts in one file, which you can simply click and all of the contained charts will be loaded and stored for future use! Pretty cool. But there is a work-around to this problem… There's thousands of random graffiti tags in this generator. The Graffiti Tag Generator can generate thousands of ideas for your project, so feel free to keep clicking and at the end use the handy copy feature to export your graffiti tags to a text editor of your choice. How many ideas can I generate with this Graffiti Tag Generator? The Story Shack claims no copyright on any of these names, but it is of course possible that some of the values this name generator provides are already owned by anyone else, so please make sure to always do your due diligence.

I've seen more than a few posts from people asking why it sounds wrong when they try to play along to a tune, only to find out they're playing a Bb whistle to a tab video made with a D whistle. For one, they both force you to think about music as a series of notes rather than a series of finger positions. In my opinion, tabs aren't the best form of written music to use (if you're going to use any at all), and I'd encourage players to become familiar with either standard or ABC notation as they learn. I use written music all the time when I'm having trouble making out a tricky bit by ear, or making note of variations, or even just jotting down the first few notes of a tune I can't remember how to start. Written music certainly plays a useful role too, even the purists will (begrudgingly) admit that. It's never too early to start, and for trad players especially it's a skill that pays huge dividends as you get better at it. That being said, I've been seeing a lot of content aimed at intermediate players that relies on tabs to do most of the teaching, and I think there are some good reasons why players might want to move away from tabs as you learn and improve.įirst, as I'm sure most people have heard repeated ad nauseam, learning by ear and playing from memory are two essential skills most players should strive towards. You'll never hear me saying that tabs are bad in fact I think they do a lot of good making the music more accessible and subtly teaching your ear where the notes are. The more you play and perfect, the more the variations you can achieve.I've seen a lot of tab content floating around whistle communities recently and I thought I'd share my thoughts on them and open the floor for discussion.įirst, let me say that I think tabs are an incredibly helpful resource, especially for new whistle players and double especially if whistle is your first instrument. It’s really difficult to know the quaternion value for rotation unless you are very familiar with the concept. } Set rotation of an object using Quaternion Public class Rotation_demo : MonoBehaviour If the initial rotation is (20,20,20) then after the script has executed the object’s rotation will be (30,30,30). Here is a code sample to rotate the object by 10 degrees in each axis. Use a Vector3 to store the values of by which you want the object to rotate in each Axis and then pass them to “transform.rotate”. This is the most used method when you have to provide the rotation value manually. Transform rotate syntax transform.rotate(Vector3) Rotating an object using Euler Angles and transform.rotate Transform Rotation syntax transform.rotation=Quaternion Transform.rotation is used to set the rotation of a game object whereas transform.rotate is used to rotate an object by the given angle. “transform.rotate” adds the rotation to already existing values, whereas transform.rotation assigns the Quaternion value directly to the object’s rotation. Transform.rotation takes a Quaternion and transform.rotate take a Vector3 with Euler angles. Both these functions take in different values and produce different output. Many get confused between the transform.rotation and transfrom.rotate. You can rotate an object using transform or you can create a simple animation or you can use Physics. Unity allows you to specify Euler angles and save them to Quaternion. ![]() Quaternion represents rotation in just 4 numbers and is easy to be processed. In order to rotate a 3D object, you require a rotation matrix that increases the computational requirement. It happens when two Axis align with each other and we lose one degree of freedom. Euler angles are subjected to Gimbal lock. There are certain limitations to Euler angles. A rotation in Euler Angles is basically the degree in each Axis (45,0,45). The easier way to represent a rotation is using Euler Angles. In Unity, Quaternion can also be represented using a vector 4. “w” represents the degree of rotation along the unit vector (xi, yj, zk). The structure of quaternion looks like this (xi, yj, zk, w) where (xi, yj, zk) is a unit vector that represents the angle between the orientation and each individual axis. Quaternion is a combination of a Vector3 and a scalar used to represent the rotation or orientation of an object. 12 Video Tutorial What is a Quaternion in Unity?
